PAL-O-MINE EQUESTRIAN HOSTS ANNUAL STAFF AND VOLUNTEER EDUCATION DAY
--Staff and Volunteers Gain Insight Into At Risk Youth Population--
Islandia, New York—Pal-O-Mine Equestrian hosted its annual Staff and Volunteer Education Day on June 30, 2012. The day featured guest speakers Victoria Ruvolo and Robert Goldman, co-authors of the book, “No Room for Vengence…In Justice and Healing”.
After being hit in the face with a twenty pound frozen turkey while driving, Victoria Ruvolo would undergo a ten hour surgery, and be placed in a medically induced coma for one month. Ruvolo requested leniency in the sentencing of her assailant, a 19 year old "at risk" Long Island teen.
Ruvolo and Goldman’s presentation about the "at risk" youth population gave insight into the juvenile delinquency recidivism rate in local prisons and what attendees can do to decrease this number through various programs and initiatives. The duo also work together with the TASTE program; a program which helps to create accountability and spur conflict resolution in an effort to end violence and restore safety in local schools.
