Newell Rubbermaid Employees Give Back to Rebuild Long Beach in Wake of Superstorm Sandy
Employees to spend Wednesday, March 13th restoring community hard-hit by 2012 storm, leaving behind more than $10,000 in product donations to aid City of Long Beach
WHAT: Long Beach residents affected by Superstorm Sandy are not forgotten. Employee volunteers from Newell Rubbermaid – the makers of Sharpie pens, Irwin tools and Calphalon cookware – will roll up their sleeves to help revitalize the Long Beach Martin Luther King Center, which serves as a hub to meet the needs of families post-Sandy. Boldly arriving in Levolor "Size-in-Store" mobile unit trucks, more than 15 Newell Rubbermaid volunteers will size and install cordless cellular shades and paint weathered walls to give the center a fresh start to help increase the potential for Long Beach’s youth. City of Long Beach and Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine officials will be on-site to accept more than $10,000 worth of Newell Rubbermaid products, including Levolor window treatments, Rubbermaid coolers, Sharpie and Paper Mate pens, Shur-line painting accessories and cleaning supplies from Rubbermaid Commercial Products, to leave a lasting impact on the community even after employee volunteers are gone.
