A new 2012 economic census website has been launched that will ask businesses to fill out the questions in an effort to measure the US, and local, economies. This census is taken every five years and depends a great deal on the participation of business owners across the country. This is also important for Long Island as it can give data that will be helpful in re-engineering a sound economic policy, helping businesses to see where growth is happening, and keep in step with current trends.
The 2012 Economic census website contains many different videos, fact sheets, and other aids to help business owners, and organizations, see the value of their input. As the data is complied many different sources such as trade associations, government agencies, and various economic watchers use the information to see benchmarks and other trends.
Pearl Kamer, the Long Island Association's chief economist, is especialy mindful of this as she uses this data for many different reasons for promoting, and growing the Long Island economy. With this information Kamer looks at the data specific to Long Island businesses to calculate various factors such as the productivity rate for different manufacturers.
The data compiled by the 2012 Economic census can be quite valuable for any business within the Long Island area. Contributing to it will also help them to see where they stand among their specific business atmosphere and what they can do to improve. It will also bring opportunities to help other businesses struggle with the things that Long Island businesses do well.
