It takes someone special to be an EMT – someone with the nerve to
race to the scene of disaster… the training and determination to
fight to save lives… the strength to focus on things that make
others turn away. From May 19 – 25, America will be honoring those
who devote themselves to saving lives. In Suffolk County, those men
and women are volunteers, so please take time to express your
appreciation to any EMTs you may know. Then visit the Suffolk’s
Bravest Facebook page

that week, post your feelings of support, and “Like” us to
become a friend of Suffolk’s volunteer community.
Only a few weeks ago we sat transfixed as the tragic events in
Boston played out before us – first on crowded Boylston Street and
then on the locked-down roads of suburban Watertown. The common
element in both locations was the presence of the first responders –
both paid and volunteer – who rushed into potential danger without
hesitation. Now think about your friends and neighbors, the ones who
stand ready to do the same for you here in Suffolk. Does it inspire
you to consider joining your local volunteer fire department or EMS
agency yourself? If so, why not learn more by clicking the
“Volunteer” tab on the Suffolk’s Bravest Facebook page

. If you like what you see, there’s a link to a preliminary
application; complete it and we’ll get it to the appropriate agency
for follow up.
