This month is Women’s History Month, and Nassau County is commemorating the occasion with a brand new “Women of the World” exhibit of art and photography by local female artists. Artwork from more than 50 award winning artists will be displayed at the Nassau County Legislature Building, where the artists will have a chance to compete for prizes. The competition will take place on February 26th and 6 p.m.
“Nassau County is home to some of the most talented artists in the country,” stated Comptroller George Maragos. “I am honored to host the Women of the World Art Exhibit as a way to promote our local artists and spur further growth in our local film and art industry.” Judges at the event will evaluate each of the fifty pieces on display based on their expression of the “feminine mystique” theme as well as their skill and creativity. Six total award winners will be chosen in Fine Art and Photography, three in each category. The exhibit itself will be open to public viewing throughout the month of March, beginning on March 4th, at the Hutchins Gallery in the CW Post Campus main library. The exhibit will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, Tuesday through Saturday.
