The September Third Thursdays Arts-in-Community Series at Brecknock Hall, located at One Brecknock Road, in Greenport will be holding "Music and Art in Stroke Recovery" on Thursday, Sept. 20th at 6 PM. This event, put on by the East End Arts, is to put on display the powerful therapy effects of music and art and how it helps those who have suffered through debilitating strokes. Grammy winning musician and Pulitzer Prize nominee Joel Thome, who himself is a stroke survivor, will be putting on a wonderful presentation detailing his therapy and how music was his source of inspiration. During his recovery, Thome began composing, and playing, his own mandela masterpieces. During the evening, Thome will screen portions of the film "Inside the Perfect Circle: The Odyssey of Joel Thome".
This film chronicles the journey of Thome as he struggled back from being a world traveler to stroke survivor. You can find more information about this flim at InsidethePerfectCircle.com.
The Third Thursdays Arts-in-Community is made possible through the generous involvement, and donation to, the Miracle-Gro Fund. These events are well attended and offer a variety of different events to help bring awareness to many different issues in Long Island, New York, and around the country.
