Author and current Massapequa Park resident Melissa Kuch, born and raised on Long Island, has just released her first episode in The Hypothesis of Giants four-part series. "The Assumption", the debut novel of the series, is an imaginative young adult book that will transport readers to a fantastical world where giants exist. This first book in the series is now available on Amazon.com.
Kuch dedicated her debut novel to her third grade teacher, Lisa Dawber, who teaches at Woodland Elementary School in the Hicksville school district.
“Mrs. Dawber inspired me to become a writer,” said Kuch. “Ever since I read my first story in her class nearly twenty years ago I knew at that moment that writing was my passion.”
The Hypothesis of Giants, Book One: The Assumption has already received acclaim by reviewers.
“[Kuch] has written an exciting futuristic fantasy adventure novel that features a thoroughly appealing, spunky heroine. She does a great job of evoking authentic emotions and creating a host of vivid secondary characters.” – Maggie Crawford
“Couldn't put it down! Interesting, thought-provoking plot...great characters...amazing imagery that really makes you feel as if you are on the journey with the characters. Also has a great message about being yourself and unlocking your full potential.”- Kara, Amazon.com Reviewer
The novel is set in the town of Candlewick, a place inspired by her Long Island upbringing, however set under very different circumstances. In the story no one questioned the mandatory curfew for the past 15 years. Until one night, a mysterious conch shell sounds, only heard by two young teenagers who are destined to fulfill a preordained prophecy.
In addition to her novel, Kuch has written short fiction pieces and plays that have entertained readers of all ages. Her short stories “Cloud Pictures in the Sky”, “To Secure a Husband” and “Name Change” can also be found on Amazon.com.
