Stony Brook, NY – The very talented Sarah Losner of West Merrick walked away with first place in Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s Long Island’s Got Talent competition this year receiving a $1,000 cash prize courtesy of Competition Automotive Group and a $6,000 scholarship courtesy of Five Towns College. Second place went to another amazing singer, Dan Wood of Sound Beach, who received a $5,000 scholarship from Five Towns College.
Everyone was a winner as a total of $25,000 in scholarships was awarded from Five Towns College and other recipients were 3rd Place Winner, Lydia Librizzi of Bellmore who tap danced and played the violin ($4,000); 4th Place Winner, singer, Mac Ayres, Sea Cliff and 5th Place Winner, singer, Madeline Seitles, East Moriches ($3,000); 6th Place Winner, singer, Madison Greene, Amityville ($2,000); 7th Place Winner, guitarist, Kieran McAuliffe, Setauket and 8th Place Winner, singer Sara Chishti of Bayshore ($1,000).
Created by WMHO’s Youth Corps, students aged 10-17 years from all over Long Island participated in various rounds over seven months displaying their vocal or musical instrument talents. Judging this year’s competition were Jeffrey Lipton, Music and Theatre Arts Division Chair, Five Towns College, William C. Riedel, GM, Mercedes Benz of Smithtown and Richard Rocchio, Co-Chair of WMHO’s Youth Corps.
WMHO President, Gloria Rocchio said, “It has been a rewarding journey to see the development of the contestants from their first audition to the finals. We congratulate all of these talented youngsters.”
