This weekend marks the start of the second month-long “Arts Alive” festival on Long Island. The festival will feature a number of different events, starting out with an African American heritage parade, a music festival in Sag Harbor, and additional festivities taking place in Roosevelt and Hempstead, all of which will happen this weekend. Later, Broadway actress Melissa Errico will perform a “classic series” at the Tiles Center for Performing Arts. Writer David Sedaris will appear at the Staller Center for the Arts to discuss his work and the art of writing, and Joao Luiz will give a presentation to fans at the Heckscher Museum. Other events are planned throughout the month for family entertainment as well as culinary enjoyment.
The Arts Alive festival will help to promote tourism throughout Long Island. Since the events are widespread, taking place in different communities throughout the area, they will be accessible to residents and tourists everywhere. No matter where you are located on Long Island, there is probably going to be an event taking place nearby.
