The Long Island Wine Council has been making efforts to reach out to Nassau and Suffolk customers on its Facebook page with a variety of contests and promotions. The most recent contest launched for spring asks visitors on the council’s FB page to guess which day the first buds will appear on the vines in East End. If you are able to guess the correct date, you will be able to win a free tasting for two. The contest runs through April 20th or until the buds first appear on the vines. This is just one of many contests the council is organizing this year on its Facebook page. It’s also a great place to check for event announcements for upcoming tastings, tours, and more.
In January, the Long Island Wine Council celebrated its 40th anniversary with a party at Raphael Vineyards in Peconic. Representatives from other local wineries were present along with enthusiastic members of the tourism industry. The council got its start in 1973, and today has more than 40 wineries in its membership roster. If you are a wine enthusiast living on Long Island, you will definitely want to check their page for updates on your favorite wineries.
