In a rather amusing incident in Suffolk County this Thursday, a Long Island pastor tackled an intruder he discovered in his parish. Rev. Michael Janowski of the nondenominational Lamb’s Chapel in Center Moriches entered his parish at six in the morning, only to discover he was not alone. When he went to see who else was there, he found out that there was a man was at his front desk, rifling around for cash. The two immediately screamed at the sight of each other, both equally shocked by the abrupt encounter. A fight then promptly ensued; the pastor called 911, dropped the phone, hoping that the dispatcher on the other end could hear what was going on, and proceeded to tackle the thief, Brian Cook. Weighing 250 pounds, Janowski didn’t have much trouble bringing Cook down.
After pinning him to the ground, Janowski proceeded to pray over Cook and reassure him of God’s undying love while they waited for the police to arrive. “Out loud, I just started saying, ‘God loves you,’” stated the pastor when talking with news reporters after the arrest. Cook was charged with burglary, and his bail is set at $5,000.
