It is heartwarming to see life starting to get back to a sort of "normalcy" with many Long Island events happening during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. One of the events, a yearly spectacle of sight and sound is the East End Arts' "First Fridays Arts in Community" Series. The very first installment of the series will be held Friday, December 7 from 6:30 PM to 8 PM at the East End Arts Carriage House.
This year, the attendees will be blessed with an incredible showing of the "Masters of Opera". This “Masters of Opera” will be an illustrated musical tour where Long Island Opera will introduce the artists whose talents contribute to this unique and enduring art form.
The "First Friday Arts in Community" is a free event that is open to the public. Beyond that, the Long Island Opera will be in residence at East End Arts from October 2012 through February 2013. Each month will feature an “Opera Weekend,” with low- or no-cost programs, classes and workshops open to the public on a variety of opera-related topics.
The Long Island Opera has been a staple of Long Island talent for more than 50 years. This acting troupe is Long Island’s oldest opera company, has brought a notable blend of opera performance and opera education to Nassau and Suffolk communities for many generations and for the pleasure of both young and old.
East End Arts is another long lasting Long Island community of talented artists that holds many different events throughout the years. They are especially proud to present this series of Arts-in-Community forums and presentations on the first Friday of the month in Riverhead, and the third Thursday of the month in Greenport, to encourage discussion and engage the local community with the arts.
