Islandia, New York —Pal-O-Mine Equestrian has received a $21,000 grant from the Knapp-Swezey Foundation in Patchogue, NY. The grant will go towards funding for Pal-O-Mine’s Respite Program. Pal-O-Mine operates multiple therapeutic riding and educational programs, such as the Respite Program, for individuals with disabilities including children and adults with mental or physical special needs.
The Respite Program provides students with a structured learning environment during scheduled school breaks. Students are able to engage in stimulating activities including horse riding, horse care and arts and crafts while improving upon writing, reading and listening skills. Alongside these benefits for students, the program gives parents and caretakers the opportunity to continue their work schedule and regular daily tasks. Pal-O-Mine understands the importance to offer families an organized, exciting and positive curriculum for children during winter and spring break, summer vacation and major holidays.
