Jeff Arnold, a Long Island man, recently had the misfortune of losing all of his property to a house fire. He didn’t lose his life or his family though, and that was thanks to the intervention of a good Samaritan who was driving by at the time that the house was burning down. Frank Archipolo, 59, spotted the smoke issuing from the house while he was in his car, and pulled over. Once he was parked, he ran inside the house and helped to rescue those inside. This turned out to be a fortunate move, since those who were in the house were not yet aware that the house was on fire.
“I wasn’t thinking about myself at the time. I was just thinking of who was in there,” said Archipolo. He ran up to the door and shouted to those inside that the house was on fire and that they needed to get out. Arnold, who hadn’t met Archipolo or seen him on the scene, still heard him. “There was somebody at the door. I don’t know if it was him. I assume it was. Somebody did help my wife out. I’m glad he was there.” The local fire department was unable to save the house.
