The 22nd annual Long Island Guitar Festival will be taking place next week at L.I.U. Post in Brookville. The festival will run from April 2nd through April 6th, and will feature a variety of performers including the Vida Guitar Quartet of Britain, Derek Gripper of South Africa, Frederic Hand of the Metropolitan Opera, and Thibault Cauvin of France. “I wanted to bring some world-renowned guitarists to the campus,” stated Harris Becker, the director of the guitar studies program at L.I.U. Post. Becker is acting as festival director, and will also be performing on the 3rd of April. His concert will feature songs which range across four centuries. Paul Cesarczyk will also be performing, a guitarist who in 2005 was picked as the festival’s “emerging artist.” This year’s “emerging artist” will be Koh Kazama from Yale. Cesarczyk will be leading a master class on the 3rd which will be open for public attendance.
Those are just a few of the exciting special events which are scheduled for next week at L.I.U. Post’s guitar festival. Each professional concert is priced at $25, and all-event passes are available for $150. If you are interested in attending, you may call 516-299-3100 for information and tickets.
