There is something special that comes out of neighborhood involvement. When a business takes it upon themselves to give back to those who have selflessly served our country, there is a great deal of accomplishment. Not just for the business, but for the people. In what is quickly becoming a yearly tradition, Long Island Applebee’s will be thanking our nation’s veterans and troops by inviting them to their local Applebee’s for a free meal on Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11th.
In this, the fourth year of providing these meals to veterans, Applebee's is giving our nation's military heros a standing salute. Joining with the rest of the nation's Applebee's restaurants, the chain is hoping to top the 1,024,000 free meals served last year from coast-to-coast. Within that monumental number is Long Island's contribution of over 10,000 free meals served from the area restaurants.
Mike Archer, president of Applebee’s Services, Inc said, “We say ‘Thank You’ with a free meal, but this day at Applebee’s is really more about creating connections. At every Applebee’s on Veterans Day, military gather to share stories, meet up with old friends and make new ones. It’s our favorite day of the year and we are honored to serve and thank them again this year.”
In Nassau and Suffolk counties the Applebee's there will be having a special menu for Veterans with some of their most popular signature dishes. These will include 7 oz. House Sirloin, Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger, Three-Cheese Chicken Penne, Chicken Tenders Platter, and Oriental Chicken Salad to name a few.
The restaurants will open up at 11 AM and continue to serve until midnight or later depending on how many are still being served. Those who are looking to be honored on this special day will need to provide some form of identification. This can include: U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.
