LBILA PRESENTS THE 90th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF
LONG BEACH –“CITY BY THE SEA”
May 2, 2012 - Long Beach, NY - On Sunday, June 3, 2012, the Long Beach Island Landmarks Association, in cooperation with the City of Long Beach, will present the 90th anniversary of the City of Long Beach at Kennedy Plaza from 9AM to 4PM.
To commemorate this historic occasion, there will be music, entertainment, vendors, a 1920’s fashion show and other festivities on the plaza. Additionally, LBILA’s Long Beach Heritage Trail Tour, beginning at 1PM will take you for an historic ride around the island, escorted by a guide who will point out various notable structures, homes, historic districts and other important landmarks. Following the tour, guests can pay a visit to the landmarked Felix House located in the Red Brick District. Step back in time as you enjoy lemonade and treats on the grand porch of this historic home.
The day begins at 9am with a special presentation of an historical marker to the Long Island Railroad (across the street from Kennedy Plaza) followed by a period fashion show. From 9am to 1pm an exhibition of photos, memorabilia and video documentation will be available for viewing in the lobby of City Hall. Craft and food vendors will fill the plaza and entertainment on the bandwagon will please families of all ages! Purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a special prize!

LBILA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to research and document the historic development
of Long Beach’s barrier island and to preserve and protect its unique and irreplaceable architectural heritage. LBILA presents educational and informative programs, tours of historic buildings and sites, as well as provides historical and architectural exhibits about Long Beach Island. We also conduct educational bus tours to surrounding historic areas and structures in the tri-state area.
