This past weekend Edible East End and its sister publications kicked off its fourth annual Eat Drink Local Week event, which continues thru Saturday, June 30!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this eight-day event, it features hundreds of restaurants preparing prix-fixe menus using seasonal and local ingredients. Each year different ingredients are selected for restaurants to work with. This year’s eight featured ingredients include spinach, eggs, goat (milk, cheese, yogurt, meat, etc.), radishes, rose wines, porgy, fava beans, and hops. There are also winery, brewery, bakery and other food partners offering discounts on such goods so that you can prepare your own meals with such ingredients.
A number of restaurants located on Long Island are participating, including those located in Amagansett, Bridgehampton, Cutchogue, East Hampton, East Marion, Greenport, Hampton Bays, Jamesport, Mattituck, Montauk, Orient, Patchogue, Peconic, Riverhead, Sag Harbor, Sagaponack, Shelter Island, Southampton, Southold, Water Mill and Westhampton. Specific restaurants are indicated on the Edible Manhattan’s website.
The event seeks to encourage everyone to dine out and enjoy seasonal, fresh, local food. Make your reservations with the participating restaurants today! If you prefer to dine at home, there are plenty of food partners, such as Sag Harbor Farmers Market, offering fresh and local ingredients to help you prepare the meal.
Come back each week for new features on entertainment, shopping and dining opportunities on Long Island.
Also, if you have any suggestions on hot spots on Long Island, please let us know.
