PAL-0-MINE EQUESTRIAN RECEIVES DONATIONS FROM LONG ISLAND FOUNDATIONS
--Grants Will Help Provide Care and Services for Therapy Horses--
Islandia, New York—Pal-O-Mine Equestrian received a $35,000 grant from the Laurence W. Levine Foundation in Bayport, NY and a $10,500 grant from Michael Scotto Foundation in Farmingdale, NY. Both grants will go towards providing care for therapeutic horses. The Laurence W. Levine Foundation grant supports Skippy, Tuffy, and Tiara and the Michael Scotto Foundation grant will go towards care for a horse named Vinnie as well as money earmarked for a riding scholarship for a student.
The horses at Pal-O-Mine are an essential part of the therapeutic programs, including the Equine Assisted Psychotherapy program, which experientially incorporates horses for emotional treatment. This unique form of psychotherapy involves patient interaction with the horses and relies on the behavior and personality of each horse. Horses provide therapeutic benefits including mirroring human behavior, demonstrating nonverbal communication, allowing for solution-oriented sessions, and showing natural and authentic interactions.
Therapeutic horses are the backbone of Pal-O-Mine’s programs, therefore it is essential that the horses receive excellent healthcare, good nutrition, and training. This is made possible by donations like the donations received by both of these foundations.
