Everyone who is in business today knows that having a wireless connection within their infrastructure is important. But, you would be surprised as to how many are still upgrading. Unfortunately, they are going to have to catch up quickly if they want to stay on top of the wireless wave in business.
The first wave of wireless was all about getting people to talk to each other on cellphones. The second will be getting things to talk to each other, with no humans in between. So-called machine-to-machine communication is getting a lot of buzz at this year’s wireless trade show. Some experts believe these connections will outgrow the traditional phone business in less than a decade.
That means if you are just now coming into the wireless world, you may want to take a much deeper step.
“I see a whole set of industries, from energy to cars to health to logistics and transportation, being totally redesigned,” said Vittorio Colao, the CEO of Vodafone Group PLC, in a keynote speech at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The British cellphone company has vast international interests, including its 45 percent ownership stake in Verizon Wireless.
Everything is starting to go to a more wireless system as it is much more convenient than running wires around, can keep better records and is accessible at many remote locations.
Long Island businesses that make use of these wireless systems are sure to not only be successful, but also continue to stay with the learning curve as more and more technology is revealed.
