Nearly 700 people gathered in San Francisco on January 18th, at the third annual Good Food Awards Ceremony. Held at the iconic Ferry Building, they celebrated this year’s 114 Winners from 30 states.Josephine’s Feast!, based in New York City and Southampton, NY was named a 2013 Good Food Award Winner for their Hand Foraged Wild Beach Plum Preserves. Beach Plums are a local gem, a heritage fruit and a sentimental favorite on Long Island. Beach plums grow wild along the shores of the Atlantic Coast.
The next day, 80 winners in the six food categories, re-assembled at the Ferry Building for the annual Good Food Awards Marketplace. Several thousand people attended for the opportunity to taste and buy directly from this year's Good Food Award Winners.
Alice Waters, founder of Chez Panisse, and the keynote speaker of the Awards Ceremony, returned as a shopper and left with a shopping bag brimming with products. Among them was a jar of Josephine’s Feast! Hand Foraged Wild Beach Plum Preserves that she remarked were, “simply delicious.” And June Taylor, an impeccable Berkeley based preserve maker and judge at the event stated that the preserves had "a clear, bright flavor.”
Good Food Awards Director Sarah Weiner commented, “More than in past years, I am blown away by how delicious everything is. There is no doubt that this is the most impressive group of Good Food Award Winners to date, and it is a true reflection of what is happening around the country.”
