As the Department of Labor releases the jobs reports many people let out a sigh of relief. More jobs were added, but the other side of that was there was a shrinkage in the labor force as a whole. Here in Long Island, especially after Sandy, many people are looking for work - many in different sectors than they were in before. This is why the Jobs Express website is so important to people in New York, and Long Island.
“Since it was first begun just over a year ago, the State’s ‘Jobs Express’ website has helped almost 60,000 New Yorkers find work,” said Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau). “More than 4,600 employers across the State have posted jobs, and there are presently almost 75,000 openings. I urge anyone who is looking for a job to give this website a look.”
Jobs Express is a great resource for anyone who is looking for work. They have plenty of videos that give advice for everything from resumes to going through interviews. They also have a great tool that matches your skills up with current job listings. With over 75,000 jobs available you are assured of being matched with several places to inquire.
Using the site is very easy. To access the available jobs, simply go to the website and click on the region (Nassau County is found in the “Long Island Region” link) in which one is interested, and see which industries are growing and find out what jobs are available in that economic sector. You can then use the matching tool in which to find the jobs that are best suited for you.
Many of the jobs were from the successful jobs fair that was held in August. Senator Hannon says that there are many more to come as he struggles to bring more employment to the Long Island area.
