Facebook is either the bane of your existence or one of your favorite social media sites. No matter which one you consider it, you are sure to have very strong feelings one way or another. Whether your 50 or 20, you probably have been on Facebook at one time or another.
Rachel Fernandez, 18, who has been using Facebook for four or five years, says, ““When I first got Facebook I literally thought it was the coolest thing to have. If you had a Facebook you kind of fit in better, because other people had one.” And now? “Facebook got kind of boring.”
Rumors about the demise of Facebook continue, but for every one person that has left Facebook, several new people have joined. In fact 618 million people sign in every day of the 1 billion users around the world.
Most of the complaints about Facebook are concentrated to the advertisements and unsolicited friends and activities on the News Feed. Will Facebook go the way of email? Most people think that it might, but email is still going strong. While it may not be used quite as often, it is still being used, just as Facebook is.
The first part of March, Facebook unveiled a big redesign to address some of the most pressing complaints of users. This reworking is meant to get rid of much of the clutter that is found on News Feeds. A spokesman said, “The amount of stories you have available to see has continued to increase. What we try to do now is give you more control over what stories you see in your feed.”
Whether Facebook is your place to connect with others or to do business, you are sure to see it changing with the needs of the people that are driving the revenue.
