HUNTINGTON, NY- Twenty-one artists have been chosen as finalists in the Huntington Arts Council's 2012 "Still Life" exhibition. The exhibition is juried by noted artist Antonio Masi, with Best in Show and Honorable Mention awards being announced at the opening reception this Friday, December 7th from 6-8pm at the Main Street Petite Gallery, 213 Main Street, Huntington, NY 11743.
In reviewing the work submitted and selected, juror Antonio Masi noted, "Still Life painting has a long and glorious tradition from the great Dutch painters, Caravaggio and Chardin to our modern painters like David Leffel. The high quality and beauty of the pieces selected for the "Still Life" exhibition reflect this tradition, often applying it within the context of contemporary subject matter. Of particular interest to me is how several artists focused on interpreting and arranging personal objects in a way that really tells a story and creates a portrait of their owner without actually depicting the owner."
