The weekend is here and for many who live within the Long Island communities it is time to get out and enjoy some of what this beautiful island has to offer. At this time of year there are plenty of different things to do on Long Island that you can get a little overwhelmed at the choices. However, even beyond that decision to be made is knowing how to have a fun, safe weekend while running from place to place.
If your kids are not involved in area sports, gymnastics, dance classes, or the many other activities that happen on the weekends, enjoying your time with them will help you to have a memorable time out of the house and away from the pressures of work and life. Enjoying this time is important for everyone in the family. In January, from the North to the South Shore are plenty of offerings, but they must be chosen wisely.
The first step to enjoying your weekend out is to choose as a family. This weekend in Rockville Center is Long Island's Only 2nd Annual Macabre Faire Film Fest. It runs Saturday and Sunday and is a full out festival of all things macabre. While some people in your family may think that is a fantastic event, there will be other who will not be so enthused. Make a wise decision.
The second step to enjoying a family weekend out on Long Island is to plan in some downtime for relaxing and refueling. This can be in the town you are in, the town you are taking in a show, or someplace new that you haven't been to. Try out a new restaurant or diner to simply sit down and relax.
The last step to have fun this, or any, weekend on Long Island is to capture the memories. A digital camera can take hundreds of photos that can be stored on your computer, your tablet, or printed out to share. Make the pictures fun by making silly poses, taking pictures with sings, landmarks, people, etc. The key is to capture this time so you can remember.
Have fun this weekend! There are plenty of festivals, concerts, exhibits, and good food to be enjoyed!
