After a lengthy national search for a dean at the Hofstra Law School, the highly esteemed institution has decided to hire on of its own instead. The university is proud to announce that Eric Lane, a law professor at Hofstra for more than three decades, has been chosen by Hofstra President Stuart Rabinowitz to serve as the university’s newest dean for the Maurice A. Deane School of Law.
This is not a new post for Lane as he has been serving as the interim dean since March, replacing Nora Demleitner. This was in response to Demleitner taking another position and Washington and Lee University's Law School as Dean.
Lane is a great choice for this type of position as he has an extensive background in the practice of law as well as a professor at Hofstra. He also has an extensive background in constitutional and statutory law, authoring several books on the Constitution and the legislative process. Lane has also served as special counsel to key government officials, including speaker of the New York City Council and the New York State Senate minority caucus in the 1980s.
