Films Classic & Contemporary Will Be Presented Outdoors at Long Island’s First Waterfront Vineyard Every Thursday Night at Dusk Beginning May 16
April 2013 – Harmony Vineyards, Long Island’s first waterfront winery, will once again mark the return of the warm weather months with a reprise of its free outdoor DRINK-IN MOVIE series.
Beginning May 16, Harmony Vineyards lets visitors head outdoors to enjoy a free screening of a great film, every Thursday evening at dusk (weather permitting). The line-up will include everything from great black and white classics like CASABLANCA and water-themed comedies like SPLASH to Long Island-centric offerings like THE GREAT GATSBY and, of course, wine-lover flicks like SIDEWAYS. Visitors are encouraged to pass up the popcorn and instead reach for some of Harmony Vineyards, most praised wines, available by the bottle, glass or the flight (three three-ounce servings of Harmony’s best).
“What better place, and way to take in a film, than out of doors, on the waterfront, with a fine bottle of wine and a view of the vines it came from,” said David Acker, owner of Harmony Vineyards. “We welcome visitors to come and bring a picnic basket, and a comfy chair, to enjoy a bit of Hollywood and our best, under the stars, right on picturesque Stony Brook Harbor.”
Planted in 2002, Harmony Vineyards is Long Island’s first waterfront winery, 32.5 harbor-side acres only 70 minutes from Manhattan on scenic Stony Brook Harbor, the closest Long Island winery to Manhattan. Formerly known as East Farm and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, its centerpiece is the lovingly restored 1690 farmhouse, which serves as its tasting room and the site for many intriguing events, from art shows to its weekly outdoor “Drink-In Movie” screenings. Harmony Vineyards produces some of the area’s most praised wines, a full-bodied cassis-like cabernet sauvignon, mouth-filling chardonnay and a sultry Harmonious Red Blend, a hearty fusion of cabernet franc, merlot and cabernet sauvignon.
All of the profits from the sales of Harmony Vineyards wines go to charity, including Island Harvest, City Harvest, Pink Rock, The Stony Brook Foundation and the East African Center for the Empowerment of Women and Children.
