There are plenty of great charity events that happen on Long Island every month. Some of these events mix food, music, art, and other forms of entertainment in order to get people to come out and participate. This past Friday was no different with the Taste of the Town even in Port Washington.
And the crowds turned out. The second "Taste of the Town," a food and wine tasting awareness and fundraising event, benefitting the Long Island Alzheimers Foundation. With food and drink from area businesses, the event took place on Jan. 24. It was a great time of not only tasting very good wine, but also meeting up with new people and being a part of a great cause.
Anyone who has had a family member suffer the effects of Alzheimers knows that it can be a very sad thing to watch your loved ones deteriorate each day. Participating in an event of this magnitude, with the stakes as they are, can leave you with a great sense of satisfaction.
The wine was wonderful, the food was delicious, but the impact of the evening was inspirational. Many people left with a new sense of what still must be done in the area of Alzheimers research and treatment.
