Melville, NY – Reverend Robert Dawley, Good Shepherd Hospice Chaplain, was recently presented with the Catholic Health Services (CHS) Living the Mission Award for exemplifying the CHS mission values of respect, justice, integrity and excellence. A Freeport resident, Dawley was nominated by his colleagues for his outstanding qualities and was chosen from among more than 15 nominees. After serving 27 years as Pastor at Community Church of the Nazarene, Dawley joined Good Shepherd Hospice, a member of CHS, as a chaplain, in which role he has earned a reputation for his compassion and concern for patients and their families.
“A ‘Full service Chaplain’ from weddings to funerals, on multiple occasions Bob exemplifies outside the box Mission work,” according to a colleague. “Bob has no sense of time other than he finishes ‘when the job is done.’”
