Melville, NY -– Good Shepherd Hospice, a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, held its 12h Annual Lights of Love Christmas Tree and Menorah Ceremonies. Each of the three ceremonies is graciously hosted every year by Astoria Federal Savings Bank in Babylon Village, Stony Brook and Seaford. All proceeds from The Lights of Love benefit Good Shepherd Hospice.
The Astoria Federal Savings has planted evergreens in their front lawns at each location specifically for ribbon placement and the ceremonial lighting of the tree. They serve hot chocolate, coffee, tea and cookies for those in attendance. At each ceremony, the attendees are invited to sign the Book of Memories, a special place created to hold messages for their loved ones lost.
St. James Bell and Vocal Choir joined us once again at the Stony Brook ceremony to perform for our guests. At Seaford, Ciara Charlotte performed an beautiful a cappella rendition of “O Holy Night” in memory of her grandmother (and namesake)Charlotte.
The guests attendingBabylonwere treated to special words by Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino, who lit the Christmas tree during the ceremony. Assemblyman Saladino expressed his gratitude at being including in such a heartfelt moment and looks forward to many more events in our community!
