There’s a chill in the air. The leaves from the trees are changing colors and beginning to cover the grounds of Long Island. This is all an indication of harvest season. Join in on harvest season festivities taking place this weekend!
There’s the Harvest Festival at Harbes Farms from 10am to 6pm on Oct. 20 and 21. Harbes is one family with three farms, including Harbes Family Farm & Vineyard in Mattituck, Harbes Western Farm in Jamesport and Harbes Farm & Orchard in Riverhead. All three locations will host the Harvest Festival, which includes corn maze adventures, grape stomping, pumpkin picking, live music, corn eating contests, a look-alike contest, pony rides, hayrides, pig races, face painting, wine tasting and much more. A portion of the proceeds from its corn maze also goes towards the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.
In Huntington, on Oct. 21, there’s the Huntington Historical Society’s Apple Festival from noon to 4pm at the Dr. Daniel W. Kissam House Museum. There will be games, old-time crafts such as scarecrow making and pumpkin painting, dancing to traditional music and the “Boo” Barn for additional entertainment. The “Boo” Barn is completely decked out for Halloween with creepy ghosts, goblins, spider webs, skeletons and more. Folks can also enjoy the great taste of harvested food, such as candy apples and pies from this festival.
Come out to celebrate the beautiful colors and great food available from harvesting during the fall! It’ll be a fun time for the entire family on Long Island!
Come back each week for new features on entertainment, shopping and dining opportunities on Long Island.
