The Olympic fever has spread throughout the globe and Long Island is part of it. Part of what everyone is looking for is some good food from England. Fish and Chips may be the first thing that comes to mind. This is part of what you will find whenever you are trying out The Bell & Anchor in Sag Harbor, NY.
Located at 3253 Noyac Road, this restaurant is owned by David Loewenberg and Sam McCleland. These two are known for other restaurants that they own. Together they both own The Beacon located in downtown Sag Harbor. Loewenberg is also known for co-owning such restaurants as red/bar brasserie and little/red.
The main focus of The Bell & Anchor is, surprise, seafood. Steaks and chops can be found alongside the menu which is heavy on shellfish platters, a daily catch, lobster rolls and boiled lobster among other things. Of course, the main focus recently seems to have switched to fish and chips. As the Olympics get closer, these sales are expected to increase. The dish features the traditional cod made in a crispy batter and served alongside fresh made fries.
If you are feeling like having a slightly more upscale meal, stick around and try the lobster thermidor. The Gruyere cheese, mustard and cognac help to put the finishing touches on this elegant and hearty dish.
The lobster cobb salad is a new take on a traditional salad. This stands out along with such things as “P.B. & O” The delightful play comes along with three lettuce leaves that contain a pork belly that is lightly crisped and a sweet oyster. The entire thing is topped with a sweet oyster and served to adventurous diners.
The fun root beer float made with Stewart’s Root Beer has an anchor-shaped cookie and can be fun to accompany a burger enjoyed at the wooden bar. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, but is open the rest of the week starting at 5:30 p.m.
