From Pastures to Putting: Bridgehampton’s Golfing Tradition
Opening Reception: Friday, May 31st, 5-7pm, Bridgehampton Historical Society, Archives Building, 2539A Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton
The Bridgehampton Museum is hosting the first of two summer 2013 exhibit openings on Friday May 31st at 5pm. “From Pastures to Putting” highlights the development of golf in greater Bridgehampton and the history of its associated clubs. It will show original equipment and fashions, pictorially and in person, and document the local origins of a sport of which many people just can’t get enough. Join curator Julie Greene for one of her popular curator’s talks, or come to our “19th Hole” and hear a veteran caddy share some of their best club stories.
Coming up in June, the Museum will open their exhibit, “Next Stop: Seaside Board,” at the Corwith House, reenacting the boarding house era circa 1870 from the perspective of the owner. In July the Museum will again host their popular “Cartoon Festival” offering inspired drawing instruction in the Charles Addams style. Several other events are planned for the summer of 2013, such as Beebe windmill tours, cemetery tours, antique shows and folk artist presentations. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 10am to 3pm, or visit bhmuseum.org for more calendar information.
