Five Long Islanders Make Forbes list of Billionaires

The new Forbes list of the riches people is now available and within its pages are five Long Island businessmen who are at the top of the billionaire side of it.
This list is led by Renaissance Technologies Corp. founder James Simons, five Long Island residents were listed on the 2013 Billionaires list published Monday by Forbes magazine.
Simons, who lives in East Setauket, ranked No. 82 overall and tied for No. 6 in New York with a net worth of $11.7 billion, Forbes reported, followed by Sagonponack resident and Renco Group founder Ira Rennert, ranked No. 182 with a net work of $6.5 billion.
Cablevision owners Charles Dolan and his family are worth $3.1 billion, according to Forbes, good for No. 437 on the billionaire’s list.
Geeknet CEO and Home Depot founder Kenneth Langone, 77, of Sands Point, ranks No. 792 on the list, with a net worth of $1.9 billion, and Moore Capital Management founder and CEO Louis Bacon, who lives in Oyster Bay, ranked No. 1,107 with a net worth of $1.3 billion.
A record 1,426 people around the world made the Forbes latest annual tally of billionaires, up 16 percent from last year. Their average net worth was $3.8 billion, rising 3 percent from 2012. Seventy-one New Yorkers made the list.
Anyone who still have aspirations of becoming a billionaire, it may be a long road, but it is possible.
