There are plenty of great organizations that are started because of the passion of the founder. This is the case with Karuna for Animals. Often times out of these organizations come some great events and opportunities to be a part of something much bigger than ourselves. Erica Settino is a long time animal rights activist and committed vegan. Three years ago, she founded Karuna for Animals, a non-profit based in Huntington, Long Island. This year, she is planning the first annual Animal Rights and VegFest on July 13.
The event is scheduled to have several guest speakers, artists, and vegan food. It should be a good time for everyone that is involved.
When asked why she planned such an event, Erica had quite a bit to say.
"I wanted to plan an event where, for those of us involved with saving the lives of all species of animals, without exception or discrimination, can come together to celebrate, raise money, and raise awareness. Over the years, I have worked with other animal rescue and welfare groups across Long Island and saw firsthand the positive impact such events have on the community. I was struck by the great lengths people would go to, and the passion with which these events were planned and brought to fruition."
With many other events on Long Island that cater to pets and food, it is great to see someone wanting to do something that brings awareness to animal cruelty and benefits of healthy living.
