The fall season is a glorious time for those who love great, farm fresh food. Not only is there the incredible sights of the diffferent colors of leaves, but garden fresh goodness available to all who are willing to go out and look for it. For those who are around the Farmingdale area of Long Island you can easily find these fabulous foods at the A Taste of Long Island Farmers Market each and every Wednesday.
This Farmer's Market is open each Wednesday from noon to 6:00 in the evening. During this time they offer for sale some of the finest grown food on Long Island. This fall season the market will also be open on Sundays from 11-5. They are located in Lot 7 of the municipal parking lot.
A Taste of Long Island is known across Long Island for its wide range of different items. This is especially true during the fall season. When the pumpkins begin to dot the countryside, the farmer's market here in Farmingdale is usually where they came from. Besides this there are flowers and Long Island wines, baked goods, fresh eggs, butter, honey and goat cheese. Fall treats like nut butter and mums are also on sale.
Courtney Thompson, who with her dad, Jim, brought A Taste of Long Island to Farmingdale has said, "We're very, very pleased with the response from this. The enthusiasm has been overwhelming."
As great as the farmer's market is to Farmingdale, and to Long Island, it is only one part of the Thompson's business. Another part is a kitchen in which they allow Long Islanders to prepare and can their products for market. If you're not too busy, and are looking for some fantastic local food, check out the A Taste of Long Island Farmer's Market for some really good food and really good people.
