In an effort to enhance the quality and delivery of eye care between optometry and ophthalmologists, primary eye care doctors from across the state will attend the upcoming 2103 Long Island Optometric Symposium, according to leading eye surgeon, Jeffrey Martin, MD, medical director at North Shore Eye Care, host of this annual continuing education program.
Since its inception, this joint meeting between the optometric community and leaders in ophthalmology has become one of the premiere optometric events on Long Island. This year’s symposium is being held Sunday, January 6th at the Hamlet at Wind Watch Golf & Country Club in Hauppauge, NY features medical lectures on advances in cataract care, glaucoma management, macular degeneration, corneal transplantation and the future of optometry. In addition to eye surgeons Jeffrey Martin, MD, Faye Knoll, MD, Andrew Bainnson, MD who will be presenting at the meeting, Dr. David Rhee and Dr. Walter Whitley are also featured guest speakers.
“My colleagues and I at North Shore Eye Care are proud to be part of this prestigious continuing education symposium,” Dr. Martin. As Long Island’s most established comprehensive ophthalmic eye care provider, North Shore Eye Care has always maintained a close working relationship with the optometric community across Long Island. “We’re also very pleased to see the growth our course has experienced over the years. It is truly an excellent way for our primary eye care providers to not only earn their required Continuing Education credit each year, but also for us to share the latest breakthroughs in cataract removal and lens implantation, macular & retinal disease treatments, laser vision correction techniques, managing glaucoma and triaging infectious or inflammatory eye conditions.”
Attending optometrists will learn how to interpret various eye conditions, see actual case studies of infectious eye conditions, receive updates on managing difficult cataract and glaucoma cases and learn the most recent updates on cataract surgery and laser surgery being performed around the world.
“North Shore Eye Care is fortunate to be able to assist in the continuing education process of our eye care professionals on Long Island,” said Dr. Martin. “Our goal is to simply ensure that Long Island residents are receiving the highest quality eye care available today and gaining access to the same advanced eye care found in major medical centers.”
