Eastern Long Island Hospital today announced the appointment of Jay P. Quartararo to the Board of Trustees. Mr. Quartararo is a tax attorney and a partner in the law firm of Twomey, Latham, Shea, Kelley, Dubin & Quartararo, LLP. Located in Riverhead, across the street from the New York State Supreme Court, the county seat for Suffolk County, the firm is the largest law firm in eastern Suffolk. Additionally, the firm maintains offices in East Hampton, Southampton, Southold, and Hauppauge.
As a practicing attorney for nearly 20 years, Mr. Quartararo brings a wealth of tax expertise and legal knowledge to the Board. His practice emphasizes taxation, estate planning and administration, pension and retirement planning, business succession planning, elder law and long-term care planning. Mr. Quartararo regularly administers estates and trusts in Surrogate’s Court, representing taxpayers in connection with Internal Revenue Service audits. He frequently acts as tax counsel to trust and estate departments of banks and other financial institutions.
Mr. Quartararo graduated with honors, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College (Cum Laude, 1990) and a J.D. degree from Gonzaga University School of Law, (Magna Cum Laude, 1993). While at law school, he served as Editor of the Law Review and was an American Jurisprudence Award recipient. Additionally, Mr. Quartararo holds a Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University School of Law (1995).
Mr. Quartararo is a member of the Suffolk County Estate Planning Council. He currently resides in Cutchogue with his wife, Karen, and their 2 year old son, Samuel.
