(RIVERHEAD, NY, August 26, 2013) –– East End Arts is pleased to announce their second annual arts and business forum titled Arts Mean Business to be held at the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead onThursday, September 12, from 3 PM to 7 PM. East End Arts invites business owners, artists, local government, arts organizations, community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community members to this arts and business presentation and panel discussion demonstrating the value of small businesses partnering with the arts to strengthen the economic vitality of Long Island.This event follows last year’s sold out venue. Following the keynote speaker and panel discussion will be a networking party with live music by Billy Johnson Jazz Trio, wine provided by Martha Clara Vineyards and complimentary hors d’oeuvres served. The Suffolk Theater is located at 118 East Main Street in Riverhead, NY. Tickets are $25 in advance for East End Arts and Riverhead Chamber of Commerce Members, $30 in advance for non-members, and $35 at the door. Keynote speaker Michelle Isabelle-Stark, Director, Film & Cultural Affairs, Suffolk County Department of Economic Development will be discussing “Destination Downtown”, a marketing campaign of the Suffolk County Office of Film & Cultural Affairs created to boost the county’s economy by promoting its small businesses, business districts and historic downtown locations and raise awareness of Suffolk’s local downtowns as a great place to do business, shop and play. “Destination Downtown” is in cooperation with The pARTnership Movement, an initiative of Americans for the Arts.
Panel discussion on innovative ways small businesses can partner with the arts will be moderated by Jim Cairo, Citibank business banker, President of Eastern Long Island Executives, East End Arts Board Member, bassist for Misspent Youth, and the panel of “experiential retailers” will include: Paula Geonie, Owner of Baiting Hollow Vineyard; Michael Mahon, Owner of 73 Main, a Riverhead lifestyle boutique; Dennis McDermott, Owner of The Riverhead Project restaurant; Ron Rothman, Owner of Rothman Department Store, Southold, NY; Ann Vandenburgh, Art Curator & co-owner of Greenport Harbor Brewing Company.
Attendees will walk away with ideas for incorporating the arts, an understanding of the potential economic benefits of working with the arts community, and the knowledge of proven examples of revitalization through the arts.
