EEA's 17th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival - Sunday, May 26 in Riverhead

(RIVERHEAD, NY, April 24, 2013) –– East End Arts is pleased to announce the 17^th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival to be held Sunday, May 26, 2013, from 12 PM to 5 PM in downtown Riverhead, NY. Admission is free. The festival features street painting, an art form dating back to 16th Century Italy – called “I Madonnari” – where street painters created works of art in front of cathedrals to pay homage to the Virgin Mary. Today, street painters at the Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival create images ranging from: pop culture to historical figures, portraits to landscapes, comedy to tragedy.This beloved annual fun-for-the-whole-family festival includes street painting on Main Street, a fine arts & crafts fair of local artists and artisans, live music on the Riverhead Town Show Mobile, face painting for children, a drum circle, gourmet food trucks, various arts, crafts, dance, and music activities for the whole family, and more. Stick around after 5 PM for Suffolk Theater’s “After-Party” Concert:Who Are Those Guys? Doors open at 5:30 PM and the show starts at 7 PM; general admission tickets are $10. New this year is a Festival Passport for Kids! The passport will explore the many activities offered throughout the festival. Get a stamp by stopping at different stations and participating in the activities! A completed passport will equate to a 5% discount on one group class at the East End Arts School.
