First Fridays Series Presented by East End Arts
August 3: “A Night on the Green: Eco-Friendly Theatre & Art”
(RIVERHEAD, NY, July 20, 2012) –– East End Arts is pleased to announce August’s installment of the First Fridays Arts-in-Community Series to be held on Friday, August 3 at 6 PM on the grounds of East End Arts, behind the East End Arts School, 141 East Main Street, Riverhead NY 11901. This event will feature a presentation by the Green Theatre Collective, one of the country’s first eco-theatre companies dedicated to producing sustainable theatre productions in outdoor spaces. In addition to the Green Theatre Collective, a number of local, eco-minded artists from Studio E will present acollaborative community art project, The Greenhouse Effect, and will discuss their process of creating environmentally-friendly art. This FREE event is open to the public.
Of this same eco-minded theme, East End Arts’ upcoming Gallery Show, Found Objects, features artwork created with just that, found objects. Guest juror, artist Jonathan Perlman, is a master of making art from found items. The show will run from July 20 through August 24, 2012 at the East End Arts Gallery, located at 133 E. Main Street, Riverhead, NY 11901.
East End Arts is very pleased to present this series of Arts-in-Community forums and presentations on the first Friday of the month in Riverhead, and the third Thursday of the month in Greenport, to encourage discussion and engage the local community with the arts.
