East End Arts Announces: New Board Member: Diane Murray
(RIVERHEAD, NY, July 26, 2012) – East End Arts is proud to announce a new addition to the Board of Directors: Diane Murray of Empire National Bank. Executive Director Pat Snyder states: “We are thrilled to welcome Diane Murray to the board. Diane’s expertise and insight, passion for community and appreciation of the arts will compliment the other talents and knowledge on our board, supporting the organization as we look to the next 40 years.”
When asked of her recent appointment, Diane Murray states, “My reason for first getting involved with East End Arts was to be able to give back to a community organization in the town in which I live. I recently accepted the position to become a member of the Board of Directors as well as joining the Finance Committee in order to spend more time on my commitment and where I can use my skills as an accountant and a business person to assist East End Arts.” Diane has been elected Treasurer of the board for the next fiscal year, which begins September 1, 2012.
Diane Murray has thirty-four years of accounting experience with thirteen years in public accounting employed by Ernst & Young, LLC and five of those thirty-four years in banking prior to joining Empire National Bank in 2007 where she functioned as the Controller and then the Director of Internal Audit. At Empire National Bank, she holds the title of Senior Vice President, Controller and BSA/Compliance Officer and is a member of senior management. Diane has a Masters Degree in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts and a Bachelors Degree from the University of San Francisco. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the States of New York and Connecticut, a member of the New York and Connecticut State Societies, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Diane Murray currently lives in Riverhead and resides about five miles from the home where she grew up in Aquebogue. At East End Arts, she has been involved on a number of event committees throughout the years. Additionally, she is active in the Eastern Outboard Racing Club where she is the treasurer. She was formerly the treasurer and a member of the board of directors of the U.S. Title Series and currently is a member of the American Power Boat Association. Diane is an active member with a nonprofit organization, Race for the Kids Foundation, which contributes monies to fund activities, parks and events for children through the venue of powerboat racing. In the past, Diane has also contributed time to Habitat for Humanity.
Diane Murray joins the esteemed and dedicated Board of Directors of East End Arts, composed of 15 active members with backgrounds ranging from business to education, from media to finance, from creative to legal, some with tenures over 25 years, under the leadership of the 2011-12 Board Officers: President Annika Shapiro, Vice President Jim Lennon, Treasurer Sandra Novick, and Secretary Gwen Branch.
