Beginning Jan. 22 there will be a new beer available in bottle form and on tap at select stores and restaurants in New York. Surge Protector - Sandy Relief Ale is a beer created to raise money to support Long Island victims of Superstorm Sandy. One-half of all proceeds from sales will go to Long Island Cares.
Surge Protector – Sandy Relief Ale is produced as a collaborative effort between eight local breweries, including Blue Point Brewing, Barrier Brewing Company, Blind Bat Brewery, Great South Bay Brewery, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company, Long Ireland Beer Company, Port Jeff Brewing Company and Spider Bite Beer Company.
The brew is produced through different ingredient donated by each of the breweries involved. Surge Protector – Sandy Relief Ale is said to offer a very hoppy, citrusy and pine flavor taste. It includes a bag of malt barley from each of the breweries and four different varieties of hops.
Superstorm Sandy has devastated many Long Islanders. Even one of the brewery businesses involved in this beer effort – Barrier Brewing Company in Oceanside – was destroyed.
The product is being brewed, bottled and labeled at Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue. The product is distributed exclusively by Clare Rose, Inc.
Enjoy a new taste of beer that helps support Superstorm Sandy victims!
