Discover the Black Hole in the Galaxy at Long Island’s Aerospace Museum

Wendy L Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Ever wonder what is lurking in our galaxy? This week the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City has a special event featuring interesting investigation and discovery about the black hole in our galaxy. Workshops run from Feb. 20 – 24, from noon to 4pm each day.

The workshop makes a fun and educational session for both children and adults. Learn about what a black hole in the galaxy is, where they are located, how big it is, how they are formed, what happens when things get too close to it and much more.

The workshop runs for a half hour and is included with admission to the museum where you can also see an outstanding collection of air and space crafts.

This can become a full day event with so much to do at the museum, including watching an IMAX film at the Leroy R. & Rose W. Grumman Giant Screen Dome Theater. Films available during the week include Tornado Alley, Sharks and Lewis and Clark.

If your stomach starts to growl, head over to the museum's Red Planet Café for a bite. You can also complete an outer space experience of being on Mars while you are at it. You will be brought to a space station on Mars where the year is 2040 and experience Martian landscape and Martian cuisine.

The little ones and adults will all come out with new knowledge and amazement over the planet and galaxy we live in.

Come back each week for new features on entertainment, shopping and dining opportunities in Long Island.

Also, if you have any suggestions on hot spots in Long Island, please let us know.
