West Islip, NY - Richard C. Bie, PE, was recently promoted to Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management. He started at Good Samaritan Hospital in 2009 as Director of Plant Engineering. Bie is a New York State licensed professional engineer whose responsibilities include facilities operations and maintenance for Good Samaritan, its power plant and the satellite locations.
Bie has demonstrated his ability to succeed countless times during his relatively short tenure at Good Samaritan. Part of his success is based on his ability to effectively prioritize multiple needs across the hospital environment. For example, he assessed the requirements for maintenance of the hospital's primary and back-up emergency systems and implemented a systematic process to address all maintenance issues. The success of his intervention was in evidence during Hurricane Sandy as all of Good Samaritan Hospital's emergency systems operated dependably and flawlessly.
He received his bachelor’s in engineering from Stony Brook University and his master’s in science from Polytechnic University. Bie’s career has included previous positions at both South Nassau Communities Hospital and Peconic Bay Medical Center. He resides in Hauppauge.
