Smithtown, NY - Daniel S. Schwartz, MD has been appointed as the Medical Director of Thoracic Oncology at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center. He is board certified in both Cardiothoracic Surgery and General Surgery, and has a special interest in thoracic oncology and complex surgical procedures.
Dr. Schwartz earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He then completed a general surgery residency at Montefiore Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by both a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship and residency at the New York University School of Medicine. He also completed a thoracic surgical oncology fellowship at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles.
Prior to joining St. Catherine, Dr. Schwartz practiced at North Shore Medical Group of Mount Sinai, School of Medicine, where he was appointed Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Huntington Hospital. He also holds the appointment of assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
