Looking for a fun activity to do this May on Long Island? The Cradle of Aviation Museum has just announced that it will be holding its 8th Annual Flying Model Expo on the weekend of May 18th and 19th from 10 in the morning to 5 in the evening. The event is extremely popular on the island and is only continuing to grow, drawing crowds of hundreds of builders and collectors who gather to see the best in flying model aircraft.
If you visit the exhibit, you’ll be able to see model airplanes, gliders, helicopters and more. Some are powered on electricity, others on gasoline. Family activities will be held throughout the weekend, so bring along your young aviator if you have one. During the expo, you’ll not only get to examine the model aircraft up close, but you’ll also be able to watch them fly outside if the weather is nice. Indoor flying demonstrations will also be given in the museum itself. If you purchase an admission pass to the Aviation Museum, you’ll be admitted to the Flying Model Expo event for free. While in the museum, you can also check out the 75 full size aircraft and spacecraft on exhibit.
