JERICHO, NY - Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County (CCE-NC) is pleased to announce the much-anticipated Country Fest Long Island 2013 will be held at the Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp, located at 3186 Sound Avenue in Riverhead, New York, on Saturday and Sunday, July 27-28, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Long Island’s North Fork.
The two-day festival features: the tasty Brooklyn twang of the Defibulators; the tri-state area’s premier Country/Rock band Six Gun; the ever-popular Long Island country music act, The Grand Central; tribute band Street Survivors (often performing with original Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer, Artimus Pyle); the Queen of Long Island country music, Mary Lamont; Johnny Cash tribute band Walking the Line; Long Island’s own Roadhouse; and the frequent North Fork act that puts a bite into country, Rattlesnake Dawn. Other special guest appearances to be announced, plus very special performances both dates by Long Island’s own Jillian Rae, as seen recently on NBC’s Today Show.
“We are thrilled to bring together great Country music bands from the region, amazing food, local craft vendors, a carnival, a Kids Corral to entertain the kids and much more to the DPF 4-H camp. As a native long islander and 4-H alumnus I am a proud supporter of the rich 4-H history on Long Island and the ongoing mission of the camp. I believe it’s the perfect venue for Country Music in the most gorgeous setting on Long Island. It’s going to be a really fun weekend for adults and kids alike,” said show producer Bill Quinones. Various children’s activities will be featured in the “Kids Corral,” sponsored by Vanguard/NY 529, with pony rides, airbrushed tattoos, extreme face painting, games and costume competitions for the best dressed cowboys and cowgirls.
Laura Hunsberger, Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County, which has operated the Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp since its 1924 inception, said “We are pleased and proud to partner with CountryFest Long Island and excited to see New York’s oldest 4-H Camp transformed into a walking village that offers something for everyone with a genuine family-friendly festival featuring live music, dancing, BBQ, arts and crafts, pony rides, face painting, a carnival, educational exhibits and more.”
