Guest Juror Sara De Luca has a lifelong 'passion for the visual' and is the creator of a new cultural center in Amagansett, Ille Arts. Through her new business, she looks to promote international artists and boldface names in her gallery space, as well as emerging artists, and comments "I'm not channeling any specific area of art, we have no restrictions, whatever strikes me, and moves me, is the kind of work I plan to exhibit." Sara de Luca was born in Rome and came to the United States 25 years ago. She worked as a stylist in the fashion industry for many years, and also found time to raise a family. Her two daughters are both aspiring artists. For more information about the juror, visit http://www.eastendarts.org/gallery/jurors.html.
Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: “Connections can be emotional, structural, genetic, etc. Just open your eyes, connections are everywhere. Remember the saying: ‘If a butterfly flaps its wings in China… somewhere in the world its impact will be felt.’” Original works in all media that feature connections of any kind may be submitted.
