This country has a rich and wonderful connection to the heritage of the American Indian. The many American Indian tribes across the nation still embrace a rich and vibrant culture. One of the ways in which they share their unique heritage and culture is through Powwows. Although these social gathering have changed a lot over the years, they still offer everyone a chance to experience some of the best of American Indian culture
On the weekend of August 11th and 12th the public is welcome to come and attend the Paumanauke Powwow. This Long Island event will be held at the Babylon Town Hall located at 200 East Sunrise Hwy in Lindenhurst, NY. Attendees will get to enjoy Native American dancing and other Indian traditional ceremonies. Over 60 vendors will be at this event, offering everything from authentic Native American food items to arts and craft items. There will also be several contests which will offer cash prizes.
Admission to this event is $10 for and $5 for seniors and children 12 to 16. All children under the age of 12 are admitted for free. More information regarding this event can be found by visiting paumanuke.org or by calling 631-587-3696.
